This has to be one of the coolest weddings ever! Custom engraved converse, groom releasing doves, ice cream truck…what else can you ask for?

The whole wedding from getting ready to reception took place at the Bamboo Gallery in Davie, Florida. The Bamboo Gallery is a unique location for a wedding featuring lots of greenery and beautiful landscape for a setting. This event was planned to perfection by the talented Vanessa Oppo from Karma Goddess Event Planning and Design. (full list of vendors at end of post)

Farrell got custom engraved converse shoes for her wedding.

As a wedding gift for Mikhail, Farrell arranged for doves to be delivered to the Bamboo Gallery in order that Mikhail and the groomsmen could walk in slow motion with doves flying as in the movie 21 Jump Street. Hilarious! The doves didn’t cooperate as expected but they did work well as photo props.

We asked Mikhail and Farrell a few questions after the wedding:

Q. What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
A. Bride: EVERYTHING! I felt like I was floating the whole day. I don’t think even in my perfect world I envisioned our wedding to be like that. But I will say the ice cream truck was a huge hit

Q. What was the most emotional part of the wedding for you?
A. Both: the vows

Q. What was something you are glad you did on your wedding day that not everyone may realize?
A. Groom: texted everyone the day of the wedding the right address because we got it wrong on the invite
A. Bride: which I had no idea about! One thing I did was watch as everyone I loved walked into the venue from my hiding spot. I took that time to be myself and get present.

Q. What is one piece of advice you would give a bride planning for her wedding?
A. Try to enjoy it!! Everyone from vendors to family kept telling me what a calm bride I was but I just wanted to be present and enjoy it. I would also HIGHLY recommend a wedding planner.

Q. What song played during your first dance?
A. Sam smith: latch (acoustic version)

Q. Who is one person (or persons) without whom you couldn’t have done this wedding? How did they make it possible?
A. Groom: My new wife. She put it all together and planned it for over a year. This was her vision and she went above and beyond
A. Bride: my mom

Q. How much did your feet hurt after the wedding?
A. Not at all! We both wore converse that we engraved with our initials and wedding date!! Best decision ever!!

After the wedding, Jackie and Albert had this to say:

Q. What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
A. The entire day was a dream come true!! From waking up and getting all dolled up with the bridal party, to partying it up with family and friends; all of it was spectacular!

Q. What was the most emotional part of the wedding for you?
A. Walking down the aisle with my dad. Everyone’s eyes were on me. What a feeling! Im suprised my dad was able to keep the tears in, because he was a wreck in the car!! There’s no better dad out there.
As I was walking down the aisle I kept my eyes on Albert. Seeing his reaction was priceless.
Then our son walked us down the aisle as husband and wife! Josh came running to us, grabbed our hands, and walked his parents down.

Q. What was something you are glad you did on your wedding day that not everyone may realize?
A. I’m glad I had my family and friends to get ready with!

Q. What is one piece of advice you would give a bride planning for her wedding?
A. A tip I would give future brides is to have an engagement photo session!! These pictures come out beautiful and have a special meaning !

I had a blast working with Meagan and Jonathan during their engagement session earlier last year and so I was very excited to work with them for the wedding. They are a fun loving couple who is very passionate about each other and I knew their day would be special.

The wedding preparations started at the Sundy House in Delray Beach. The Sundy House is a historic home which now serves as a very beautiful, quaint bed and breakfast type cottages.

After the wedding, Meagan and Jonathan had this to say:

Q. What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
A. Bride: Our first dance. We practiced and practiced at home, but once I put on the dress, I didn’t know if we could pull it off. Luckily everything went exactly as planned and we had a blast showing off our dance moves to all of our friends and family.

A. Groom: Watching my future wife walk down the isle. It took everything I had to keep my composure and not to break down.

Q. What was the most emotional part of the wedding for you?
A. Bride: Saying our vows. I wasn’t sure if I was going to get through them because I knew that I would probably be crying. Somehow I managed to pull it together, and I think our vows really showed who we are as a couple and how much we support each other.

A. Groom: During the first look, I felt like I was looking at the most beautiful woman in the world. The next thought was “How am I going to flip her in this dress?”

Q. What was something you are glad you did on your wedding day that not everyone may realize?
Bride: Spending time, just John and I, right after the ceremony to take everything in and have 10 minutes to ourselves. We stood on the balcony together, enjoying our drinks and horderves, and watched as all of our friends and family were celebrating below. It was a special moment that I will never forget.

Groom: spending the day relaxing by the pool and grabbing lunch with my brothers and groomsmen made for an awesome start to the wedding day.
What is one piece of advice you would give a bride planning for her wedding?
Bride: Get a videographer. At first, we weren’t going to spend extra money on it, but it ended up being one of the best decisions that we made. Since we can’t be everywhere at once on the wedding day, we’re happy that someone could catch all of the action.

Groom: To other grooms: help your wife with planning the wedding- it will make her happy. Happy wife = happy life.

Ashley had this to say following her wedding…

Q: What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
A: Definitely walking down the aisle and seeing my future husband Awaiting me on the deck. The love and happiness you feel from everyone in that moment makes it all worth it!

Q: What was the most emotional part of the wedding for you?
A: I would have to say dancing with my father.

Q: What was something you are glad you did on your wedding day that not everyone may realize?
A: Get ready with my entire bridal party while snacking and drinking champagne! Made me feel more at ease commuting with my bridesmaids and not worrying if they would arrive late.

Q: What is one piece of advice you would give a bride planning for her wedding?
A: Enjoy your day and try to relax! It goes by way too fast so make the most of it. At the end, everything will turn out perfect :)

Instead of doing traditional candles or sand for their ceremony, Elizabeth and Jaimey decided to do something a bit more special. One of the family members explained the meaning of the rock, pebble, sand ceremony as follows…the rocks represent the important things in life such as your family and close friends, those went in first. Second, the pebbles represent necessary things in life such as career and home. Third comes the sand representing the little things that are not as important. The meaning of the ceremony is that if you start with the sand first then you will never have room in the bottle for the rocks which represent the really important things in life. You have to build your life with the important things and then make room for the little things not the other way around. The beauty of this ceremony was accentuated by the triangle shape of the container representing their faith as God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. It was really touching and something I had never seen before in a wedding ceremony.

After the wedding, Elizabeth and Jaimey had this to say…

Q. What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
A. Bride: My favorite part of the wedding day was the moment to finally walk down the aisle to know I would walk up to the man I love to exchange our wedding vows. I was incredibly touched by our unity ceremony.
A. Groom: Finally seeing her walk down the aisle.

Q. What was the most emotional part of the wedding for you?
A. Bride: 1) starting by receiving a wedding gift from my fiance which was delivered to my hotel room by the best man while I was getting ready 2) walking down the aisle with my father and 3) as I approached the wedding arch seeing my fiance express his emotions.
A. Groom: Again LOL! Finally seeing her walk down the aisle.

Q. What was something you are glad you did on your wedding day that not everyone may realize?
A. Bride: I made sure I captured a clear photograph in my mind of the entire event and enjoyed myself throughout the entire day.
A. Groom: Having my post wedding cigar. It was nice to sit at the end of the night with my bride and a few close friends having a cigar, a drink, and relaxing as the event ended. Finally getting to relax.

Q. What is one piece of advice you would give a bride planning for her wedding?
A. Bride:1) Work as a team with your ideas of how you want your wedding to be (learn to compromise) 2) if you are getting ready with all your bridesmaids, make sure someone is in charge of the whole day so you can focus on just yourself 3) make sure you provide the photographer with a list of photos you must have whether formal or fun. I should have taken the time as the photographer suggested. I now regret it, as I missed many of the fun photos I wanted to have.
A. Groom: Realize that everything will not turn out 100% the way your planned it, but also realize that none of your guest will know what went wrong or was out of place. Just enjoy the event.
